TO OPTIMIZE FIT:
Solo can be customized to the exact shape of your helmet. It is designed for a large to extra-large helmet, so you may need to trim it to best fit into your helmet:
STEP 1
Align the large “roundish” tab with the front of the helmet pad. Place the Solo inside the helmet and press it into place
STEP 2
Use a pen to mark any part of the Solo that exceeds the sides of the helmet. Do not trim the front tab
STEP 3
Use a pen to mark parts of the Solo that overlap. Mark only the sides or the back pieces. Do not trim the front “roundish” tab
STEP 4
Using normal sharp scissors, or a straight edge, cut the excess and the areas of overlap. Place back into the helmet
STEP 5
With Solo inside the helmet, face the open part of the helmet toward your body with your arms at a 90º angle. Lower your head and bend toward the helmet to prevent the Solo from becoming displaced. Once your head is completely inside of the helmet, stand upright

Haven't had to use it yet, however...
I had fitted my goalie helmet with a gel/whipped foam product. I knew this had been tested at the NHL level for several years with good results. My newly padded helmet wasn't fitting all that well, so I knew this was a good opportunity to use such a product. I cut it and placed it in my helmet with 3M adhesive. The Kevlar backing could be tricky on some pairs of sheers; get a new pair to cut this material. I say that I haven't had to use it yet only because I haven't taken a shot to the head in this helmet. Fine product.

Perfect product and amazing service
My daughter needed extra protection in her ice hockey goalie helmet due to a concussion from pucks to the head. My daughter wears the Unequal Goalie base layer and absolutely loved it so I looked for additional protection for her head. From the website, I chose the Solo. I called the support line and spoke with Kyle and he was amazing. He walked me through the various options and even FaceTimed with me to show me the products. It turned out great. I love the Unequal products. Thank you.

Would recommend
Tested by protecting my knuckles and punching a wall. Feels like this thin little piece protects as much as 1" neoprene padding, and more padding is more protection so I'm happy with it and expect it to work as advertised. It feels like a mix between neoprene and rubber. The Mojo is more of a soft foam that is slow to compress and return to form, better for large area impacts. The Gyro appears to be better suited for high speed impacts and immediately returns to form.
